Must be reliable - when a job is confirmed the team (and client) are counting on each other to follow through as they may have their own jobs or other obligations. Emergencies do happen, and that is where the support comes in.

Yes, training is definitely offered! You will go to your first consultation with either the team assigned to the job, another seasoned pet sitter, or your Territory Manager. Your first visits will be coupled with a seasoned pet sitter who will be able to answer any questions you may have.

We also offer training for medication administration, husbandry for different species, and some grooming practices such as nail trims/dremmel, anal gland expression, and sanitary clips.

All sitters are also encouraged to take advantage of the training videos we have compiled.

We offer services to all breeds of cats and dogs as well as reptiles, birds, amphibians, and pocket pets. The only pets you are responsible to care for are the ones you are personally comfortable to care for. We understand some people have allergies to certain types of dander, and some animals simply make people feel uncomfortable - that is ok. All that we ask is that you communicate with us your comfort level so we can make the best steps to support you.

We operate through a pet care portal system. Once the sitter arrives to the client's house they are to Clock-in through the app which turns on the GPS locator. Should anything happen to a sitter while at a client's house we can send help directly to their location.

New Client Consultations are conducted using the buddy system. We will never send you or any other sitter alone to a New Client Consultation

Upon being hired all sitter's are encouraged to take advantage of the video training list we have complied to help understand Canine behavior, and husbandry for all pets we are privileged to care for. All sitters are also encouraged to obtain their First Aid and CPR certification for cats and dogs.

This will be discussed during the interview.

We work as a team - from your territory manager to your team of pet sitters overseeing the quality of care for each family. You will never be "alone" on a job. Should an emergency arise while you are at a job or prior to getting to your job, we have policies in place to assist you as needed.

It is our goal to provide the best pet care possible, and the only way to do that is together!

Contractors often work through an umbrella company such as Fur’st Choice. When contracted through Fur’st Choice, the contractor will be a 1099 for tax purposes and will fill a 1099 form out at the time of being hired. At the end of the physical year you will receive a 1099 from Fur’st Choice for all wages earned, these are taxable and must be reported to the IRS to avoid penalty.

All Contractor’s expenses while on the job are tax deductible and the responsibility of the Contractor to keep track of. These Include but are not limited to: use of portal, mileage, any supplies purchased to make your job easier (fanny pack, First Aid items, etc.), any courses you chose to take to better your pet sitting services, lunches while working, clothes, shoes, etc. For a full list of possible tax-deductible items please visit IRS.gov.

As an Independent Contractor, Fur’st Choice is not liable to provide health insurance. The Contractor will receive a percentage of service fee for payment vs an hourly wage or salary. As an Independent Contractor you are able to choose when you are available to work as well as the jobs you wish to accept.

On average our sitters earn approximately 50% of what the client pays for the visits. There are some variations to this which will be discussed at the time of the interview and a Sitter Pay Breakdown Sheet will be provided at the time of hire and discussed during the interview.

Your schedule can be as booked as your personal schedule allows. You tell us what your availability is to accept jobs and we give you jobs based on your availability. Ultimately, what you earn is all up to you.

We do offer several benefits! Bonuses for Holiday pay, and a Pet Sitter Incentive program. We also offer pet sitter discounts on services when we pet sit for each other.

As a company we are insured by the Business of the Carolina's for our liability insurance and all of our Independent Contractors are covered. In the event of an emergency such as a dog bite, we do have Workers Compensation insurance.
